The Welcome Ministries of our congregation plays a crucial role in providing a way for the experience of God to become a reality in the hearts of those who come through the doors each week. It may be the smile of the person serving coffee to someone that provides a touch from God. It may be the worship area host who helps a person who comes in late find a seat quickly that allows that person not to feel uncomfortable but welcomed. All areas of Welcome Ministries work together as hosts and hostesses for those who come to God's "house". Just as you would want to make someone feel at home in your own house, this ministry allows those God is calling to Grace Community to feel loved and welcomed in His house. As ones who have been called to be involved in this ministry, we work together with hearts of servants so that "Christ, through grace, can restore lives and transform seekers into servants."Worship Area Hosts ![]() You will find these hosts in the worship area passing out bulletins, meeting and greeting people, assisting people in finding seats, passing baskets for offering, passing out attendance registers and preparing the worship area for the next service. They are scheduled on a rotating basis for one sevice time once a month. They have made the commitment to serve for one year. Gathering Area Hosts You will find these hosts out front in the gathering area preparing coffee and serving cappuccino, greeting people as they enter the front and side doors, answering questions and greeting people at the welcome center and the information center. They are scheduled on a rotating basis for one service time once a month. They have made the commitment to serve for one year. Do you like to bake cookies? Other Volunteer Opportunities In addition to the two main groups there are also volunteers who come in and put together welcome bags for first time visitors. Another group bakes bread for our communion services and helps to set up the altar for each service during communion weekend. Each of these groups are scheduled two months at a time and have made the commitment to serve for one year. If you would like to get involved in Welcome Ministries or have questions about any of these areas please call the church office at 865-2070. Volunteering FAQ's Q: What if I don't have any gifts? A: God has given each of us at least one special gift that we can use to strengthen our church and our community. We offer a class to help you discover your gifts called "Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts" which we offer throughout the year. To see a schedule and sign up for this or any of our Pathways introductory classes, click here. Q: If I want to learn a new skill, is training available? A: Yes, training is provided in many areas. You need not fear being placed in an unfamiliar situation without proper guidance. Q: I don't have a lot of spare time. Is that a problem? A: No matter how limited your time we have a ministry area that will be just right for you. Pick up our ministry opportunity book, Living the Gift, in the information center. |
