Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every other Thursday in the Warehouse “Den.” New and experienced knitters and crochet-ers create beautiful shawls stitched with prayers for comfort, healing, support, or celebration. Baby blanket ministry provides a hand-crafted baby blanket at the time of infant baptism. Contact Pat Birmingham (pbquilter@aol.com).

 

Dusty Angels are a group of women who offer Christian fellowship and practical help with cleaning homes and gathering around the kitchen table to chat over a cup of tea or coffee.   Contact Anthea Brock (florabritt13@yahoo.com).

 

Phone Friends is a team of prayer and fellowship who gathers to follow up on weekend prayer requests each Sunday afternoon. Contact Mignonne Owens (mmowens714@hotmail.com). 

 

Neighbors Helping Neighbors gathers every few weeks to prepare, package, and label dozens of meals, which are then frozen and available for families in times of crisis or special need. Contact Betty Sorrels (bettysorrels@comcast.net).

 

Standing in the GAP (Grandparents As Parents) meets first Monday of each month 6:30-8:00 pm to offer support and resources for the special needs of extended family who are raising children. Contact Rich or Diane Varner (richvarner@yahoo.com or dianevarner@yahoo.com or 524-2444).

 

Cancer Support is available through trained Cancer Care Coordinators Sheila McCormick (sheilahmccormick@aol.com, 925-8628) and Bill Grayson (bgrayson@hotmail.com, 795-0840).

 

Other support groups meet at various times. Call the church office for times of current AA, Al-Anon, and NA meetings. 

 

Stephen Ministry offers one-on-one caring relationships with those whoa are experiencing a difficult time and who request such a relationship. Nursing Home Ministry visits residents in area nursing homes. A team visits The Glen and The Guest House on alternate Wednesdays. The ministry also visits residents in other facilities at other times as requested.   Contact Linda Zander (lindadz@bellsouth.net).

 

Hospital Visitation Team visits in area hospitals, to offer the church's care and presence, and to pray with and for the loved ones hospitalized and their families. Contact Gloria Echols (Echolsjohn@aol.com) or Rhonda Garza (rhondagarza@allstate.com).  Grace Community networks for fellowship and support are forming among employees and visitors at major area hospitals. Contact Ellen Alston for details. 

 

Card Ministry writes and sends cards to persons who are celebrating a new birth, grieving the loss of a loved one, or hospitalized. Contact Julie Kyle (jkzoecoco@yahoo.com).

 

Prepare/Enrich for strengthening marriages offers feedback and counseling for couples who are preparing to marry, or growth and enrichment for married couples.

 

Lamb Ministry welcomes a new baby with a sign in front of their home, celebrates the new arrival and helps connect new parents with others for support and encouragement. Contact church office at 865-2070 for more info.
